A hina tour on Miyajima Island, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Itsukushima Shrine. Lavish hina dolls from the Edo, Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods are displayed at participating inns and shops marked with pink flags. Highlights include the Miyajima History and Folklore Museum and displays along Machiya-dori (townhouse street). A popular costume experience lets visitors dress in junihitoe (twelve-layered kimono) to 'become a hina doll' (1,500 yen). The luxurious dolls preserved in the island's merchant houses tell the story of Miyajima's prosperous past as an international trading port.
