Venue: Former Saito Family Villa (Nationally Designated Scenic Spot)
Feb 21 – Mar 21, 2026
A hinamatsuri at the nationally designated Former Saito Family Villa in Chuo-ku, Niigata. The Saito family were among Niigata's foremost wealthy merchants, and their villa built during the Taisho era features a circuit-style garden and open modern Japanese architecture. The exhibition displays precious hina dolls from prominent local families, including early Showa-period dolls from the Suzuki family, who operated the 'Maseya' shipping agency in Niigata during the Edo period. Visitors can appreciate historic hina dolls in an elegant setting that embodies Niigata's prosperous merchant culture.
