The Kyoto National Museum's special exhibition 'Hinamatsuri and Dolls' focuses on how the images of the Emperor and Empress have been represented through hina dolls, introducing various types popular during the Edo period including Kyoho-bina, Jirozaemon-bina, and Kokin-bina, along with diverse Kyo-ningyo (Kyoto dolls). The exhibition features carefully selected pieces from the museum's extensive collection, showcasing the delicate craftsmanship unique to Kyoto. It offers an academic yet enjoyable perspective on the history and evolution of hina culture.
