The Yachi Hinamatsuri is a historic doll festival held in Kahoku Town, Yamagata. During the Edo period, Yachi prospered through safflower trade, and prestigious hina dolls including Kyoho-bina, Jirozaemon-bina, Kokin-bina, and Gosho-ningyo were brought from Kyoto and Edo, passed down through generations. This event opens these treasured dolls to public viewing at venues including the Safflower Museum and old merchant houses along Hina-ichi Street. A hina doll memorial service is also held at Akiba Shrine. Exhibitions incorporating safflower dyeing reflect the town's rich cultural heritage.
