Kawara to Hinamatsuri (Tiles and Hinamatsuri)

Minamiawaji, Hyogo

Venue: Minamiawaji City Industrial and Cultural Center

Feb 15 – Mar 21, 2026

Kawara to Hinamatsuri is an annual hina festival held at the Minamiawaji City Industrial and Cultural Center in Hyogo Prefecture. In the Tsui district, birthplace of "Awaji tiles"—one of Japan three major tile types—traditional craftwork with 400 years of history is paired with approximately 1,500 hina dolls. The contrast between the subdued silver ibushi tiles and the brilliantly dressed hina dolls creates a splendid atmosphere. Organized by the local "Kawara to Hina no Kai" since 2016, the event has become a beloved showcase of regional traditional culture. Free kimono rentals for children and play corners make it a family-friendly experience. Combining a visit with a tile-making workshop is also recommended.
