Venue: Sawara Community Museum member shops, along the Ono River, and other locations
Feb 8 – Mar 22, 2026
In Sawara, a designated Important Preservation District of Historic Buildings lined with Edo-period merchant houses, family heirloom hina dolls are simultaneously unveiled at shops throughout the town. More than half of participating shops display dolls during the festival period, with pink beckoning cloths as markers. The highlight is the 'Hina-bune Spring Festival,' featuring hina doll boats floating on the Ono River — a uniquely picturesque scene befitting this waterside town. Visitors can see historically valuable dolls up close, including Edo-era antique dolls and palace-style displays. The festival pairs perfectly with a stroll through the well-preserved Edo-era streetscape.
