Aso Hina Matsuri

The 19th Aso Hina Matsuri takes place amid the historic 'Warehouse Town' of Tochigi City, known for its Edo and Meiji-era storehouse merchant buildings. Hina dolls displayed throughout the Kura no Machi Main Street area create photogenic contrasts between the stately storehouses and colorful doll decorations. Activities including puzzle walk rallies, Aso Hina Marche markets, and karakuri (mechanical puppet) demonstrations offer fun for all ages with a 'play while you enjoy' spirit. A nagashi-bina (floating doll) ceremony on March 3 offers visitors a chance to experience this traditional cleansing ritual.
