Seisonkaku, a National Important Cultural Property, is the only remaining palace built for a daimyo's principal wife in Japan, constructed in 1863 by the 13th lord of the Kaga domain, Maeda Nariyasu, for his mother. The spring special exhibition displays hina dolls and exquisite maki-e lacquerware hina furnishings handed down through the prestigious Maeda family of Kaga (worth one million koku). Featured items include Jirozaemon-bina, yusoku-bina, and kokin-bina dolls, along with magnificent lacquerware sets. Adjacent to Kenroku-en Garden, it is ideal to combine with a garden visit.
