Venue: Sanno Club, Former Honma Family Residence, and various venues in Sakata
Mar 1 – Apr 3, 2026
This is a milestone year celebrating the 30th anniversary of Sakata's 'Kasafuku,' one of Japan's three great hanging doll traditions. In the grand 106-tatami hall of Sanno Club, a nationally designated cultural property and former ryotei restaurant, 999 kasafuku ornaments hang from six parasols, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The Former Honma Family Residence features an over 2-meter-tall hina display showcasing the culture of wealthy merchants. The 30th anniversary 'Hina Kaido' trail connects venues throughout the city where hina dolls are displayed, allowing visitors to experience the vibrant culture of Sakata, a port town that thrived through kitamae-bune trading. Kasafuku crafting workshops (reservation required) are also popular.
