Venue: Mameda-machi and Kuma-machi area (Hita City, Oita)
Feb 15 – Mar 31, 2026
Centered around Mameda-machi, the historic district of Hita that flourished as a tenryo (Shogunate territory) in the Edo period, this festival opens the grand hina dolls passed down through generations in old families to public viewing. Many displays reflect the prosperity of the tenryo era, and visitors can see rare Edo-period dolls including Kyoho-bina and yusoku-bina up close. The atmospheric streetscape of Mameda-machi with its white-walled storehouses is a pleasure to explore, with numerous sake breweries and Japanese sweet shops making it perfect for a gourmet stroll.
