Beds of dome and spray chrysanthemums, and some 700 entries on show
Organized by a committee based within the Sapporo Tourist Association, this is Hokkaido's largest chrysanthemum event, reaching its 64th edition in 2026. The main venue is the Sapporo Ekimae-dori Underground Walkway — known as Chi-Ka-Ho — which links Sapporo Station with Odori, with further displays at Aurora Square in the Aurora Town underground mall and in the ground-floor entrance and Lilac Gallery of the Hokuhoku Sapporo Building. Around 700 entries grown by enthusiasts from across Hokkaido are shown and judged, alongside flower beds built from dome and spray chrysanthemums and displays of chrysanthemum-themed cultural work. What sets it apart is that every venue is indoors or underground. Early November in Sapporo brings the first snows, but visitors can view the show regardless of weather or footing. The three-day run opens to the public from around 15:00 the previous day, October 31, and closes at 13:00 on the final day.
