57th Obihiro Chrysanthemum Festival

The Obihiro Chrysanthemum Festival has brightened late autumn in Obihiro for more than half a century and reaches its 57th edition in 2026. The venue is Tokachi Plaza, right by the south exit of JR Obihiro Station, and because the festival is held indoors it can be enjoyed whatever the northern weather brings. There are two main attractions: a themed display garden assembled from chrysanthemums, which in 2026 takes the theme of a glittering flower street, and an exhibition of blooms grown by enthusiasts across the Tokachi region, from large-flowered varieties to small sprays, shown close enough to compare the growers' skill. The overall festival theme celebrates colour and romance in late autumn. It runs for five days from 31 October to 4 November, open 9:00 to 17:00, opening at 10:00 on the first day and closing at 16:00 on the last. Admission is free. The festival is organised by the Obihiro Festival Promotion Committee with the Obihiro Tourism and Convention Association as the contact point, and its near-station location makes it an easy stop on the way in or out of Tokachi.
