Receiving chrysanthemum sake and a special chrysanthemum-crested amulet
Held at Kitajima Kokuso-kan of Izumo-kyo, directly east of Izumo Taisha, this rite marks the Choyo festival. In 2026 it falls on Sunday, September 6, with the ceremony at 10:00 and festivities from 10:30. Prayers are offered for the health, longevity and beauty of those attending, and chrysanthemum sake is served in keeping with the festival's wish for long life. Those who reserve in advance receive a special amulet bearing the chrysanthemum crest along with a celebratory bento. The festivities include a saxophone recital by Mika Miyamoto of Matsue at the Kameyama Hall. A tamagushi offering from ¥3,000 is requested, and advance reservation is required. The site is an easy addition to a visit to Izumo Taisha.
