66th Jindai Botanical Gardens Chrysanthemum Show

Jindai Botanical Gardens opened in 1961 as Tokyo's only dedicated botanical park and covers about 48 hectares, known for its rose garden and large conservatory. Its autumn chrysanthemum show, supported by the Jindai chrysanthemum federation that works alongside the park, reaches its 66th edition in 2026. The venue is the outdoor exhibition area near the main gate, where a wide range of training styles is displayed under the open sky: compact daruma and fukusuke forms, cascades trained to spill downward, bonsai forms with sculpted trunks, cut flowers and classical varieties such as Edo chrysanthemums. The park's newsletter describes it as a show of traditional chrysanthemums pulsing with life beneath the autumn sky. The 2026 show runs from 31 October to 23 November; the park opens 9:30 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:00 and closes on Mondays, or the following day when the Monday is a holiday, so during the show it is closed on 2, 9 and 16 November and open on Monday 23 November. Admission is ¥500 for adults, ¥250 for those aged 65 and over, ¥200 for junior high students and free for elementary students and younger. A guided tour of the classical chrysanthemums is scheduled for 7 November with advance booking. The temple town of neighbouring Jindaiji, famous for its soba, and the park's own autumn foliage make it easy to fill a whole day.
