The Yatsushiro Ohina Matsuri is a historically rich hinamatsuri event in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto. At the main venue, the nationally designated scenic site 'Shohaken,' Edo-period hina displays passed down through the Matsui clan (lords of Yatsushiro Castle) are exhibited. The central shopping area features diverse displays including kindergarteners' handmade hina dolls and Higo temari balls on hina platforms. The Hinagu Onsen district displays 21 'Kumamon Hina' dolls and hina dolls once owned by the late singer Aki Yashiro. Stamp rallies and tea ceremonies are also held.
