Ajisu Hinamon Matsuri

A five-day-only event where approximately 5,000 handmade chirimen fabric 'hinamon' hanging ornaments decorate the atmospheric Igura-zukuri townscape and shopping street of Ajisu. 'Hinamon' are hand-crafted hanging decorations made from chirimen (crepe) fabric by local women, with colorful creations adorning the shopping arcade and historic buildings. The contrast between the traditional white-walled Igura-zukuri architecture from the Edo period and the vivid hinamon creates a photogenic scene that has become increasingly popular.
