Rustic hina displays in the folklore town

About This Event

In Tono, the legendary 'Land of Folklore' made famous by Kunio Yanagida's Tales of Tono, about 40 shops near the station display family heirloom hina dolls in their storefronts, transforming the entire town into a Hinamatsuri celebration. Now in its 27th year, this spring tradition also features a special exhibition of 185 dolls from the Edo through Taisho periods at the Tono City Museum. Recommended family-friendly touring routes are available, with stroller-accessible options. The rustic warmth of Tono's streets combined with generations-old hina dolls creates a scene that embodies the spirit of traditional rural Japan in springtime.
