One of Japan's 3 great hanging traditions
The Inatori Hanging Doll Festival, one of Japan's three great hanging doll traditions, celebrates its 29th year as a treasured Izu Peninsula event. The main venue, Hina-no-Yakata at the Cultural Park, is filled with colorful handmade hanging ornaments cascading from the ceiling in a breathtaking display. Susanoo Shrine hosts a special exhibition with hina dolls arranged on its 118 stone steps. The mild Izu climate makes this event perfect to combine with a hot spring getaway, and staying at an Inatori Onsen ryokan allows visitors to explore at a leisurely pace.
