Okabe-juku Ohatago Kashiwaya Inn
Fujieda, ShizuokaChubu
Hina dolls at a historic Tokaido post town inn
A hinamatsuri at the historic Kashiwaya inn, a large hatago (travelers' inn) remaining from the Okabe post station on the old Tokaido road in Fujieda, Shizuoka. The exhibition features nationally rare life-sized hina dolls and a Kyoto Imperial Palace-styled palace decoration designated as a Fujieda City cultural property. On special days in March, events include mandolin and guitar ensemble performances, hina candy distribution, origami workshops, and portrait drawing. Visitors can appreciate historic hina dolls within a building that preserves the atmosphere of an Edo-era post town.
