Gokasho, Higashiomi, ShigaKansai
Living hina event in Omi merchant mansions
Held in the Omi merchant mansions of the Gokasho Kondo district, a nationally designated Important Preservation District known for its beautiful white walls and ship-plank fences. Displays include prestigious palace-style dolls handed down through wealthy merchant families, as well as creative modern dolls. The highlight is the 'Living Hina Picture Scroll Festival' on March 1, where real people dress in juni-hitoe and formal court attire to portray living hina dolls. Modern creative dolls wrapped in Omi linen and kimono rental services are also available.
