Isahaya Shrine grounds
Isahaya, NagasakiKyushu
A free bamboo wish-display open to all
Isahaya's guardian shrine, affectionately called 'Oshin-san,' sets up large bamboo on its grounds for Tanabata, where visitors can freely write wishes on strips and hang them. Colorful strips and pens are provided to the left of the main hall, and participation is completely free. A beloved seasonal tradition for families and tourists, the bamboo display is up only briefly—roughly around July 7 until the next morning—so timing matters. Within walking distance of Isahaya Station, it offers an easy way to make a Tanabata wish in the heart of town.
