Floats and bearers parading through the night pedestrian mall
Held along the Heiwa-dori pedestrian mall as part of the Asahikawa Summer Festival, this is a dynamic nighttime celebration. Organized by the Asahikawa Junior Chamber, its centerpiece is a spirited parade of floats and bearers that fills the mall with energy. Nebuta-style floats and Tanabata decorations light up the pedestrian street as crowds of locals and visitors join in. With taiko drums and chants echoing into the night, generations come together for a summer spectacle that draws around 160,000 people, a defining seasonal feature of northern Hokkaido.
