Bamboo and wish-card decorations along Edo-style streets
Okage Yokocho, the recreated Edo-to-Meiji era townscape beside the approach to Ise Jingu's Inner Shrine, holds its Tanabata Sekku each summer. Bamboo, colorful wish cards, and streamers are arranged throughout the lanes, fluttering with the wishes of visitors who come to pray and sample local foods. The event includes writing wishes on tanzaku, seasonal sweets and regional cuisine, and Tanabata-themed displays, letting visitors savor the changing seasons within the nostalgic old streets alongside a pilgrimage to Ise.
