Yakumo Yu-yu Koinobori

A beloved spring tradition in the Yakumo area of Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. Colorful koinobori are displayed along the Iu River at Hiyoshi Shinsui Park for about two months from spring through early summer. The opening event features performances by the Yakumo Sky Band, kamishibai storytelling, and harmonica concerts. Additional events are held in May. This warm, community-organized celebration allows visitors to experience the nature and culture of Yakumo.
