Rare 'underwater koinobori' swimming in the river instead of the sky
The 'Koinagashi' event at the Sabagawa River in Hofu, Yamaguchi is a nationally unique event where about 120 koinobori swim underwater in the river instead of the sky. The sight of koinobori swaying in the clear stream creates a fantastical scene resembling real carp swimming. Food trucks and stalls are set up near Nami Chuo Bridge. This 'underwater koinobori' experience is only possible in the crystal-clear Sabagawa River.
