Chrysanthemum doll displays and chrysanthemum-themed food stalls
The Yanaka Chrysanthemum Festival at Daienji Temple traces its origins to the chrysanthemum doll displays once held at Dangozaka from the Edo through Meiji periods, revived as a festival in 1984. The temple grounds feature chrysanthemum doll displays, sales of chrysanthemum pots shipped directly from growing regions, chrysanthemum-themed foods such as chrysanthemum inari-zushi, namasu, and sake, and festival stalls. A mail-order service for sending chrysanthemums as souvenirs is also offered, making it a beloved event that brings autumn color and bustle to the lanes of Yanaka.
