Traditional Chikugo hina at a historic oil merchant's house
A hinamatsuri at the historic Matsuzaki Aburaya in Ogori, Fukuoka. Matsuzaki was a post station on the old Satsuma Highway, and the Aburaya thrived as a central travelers' inn. Traditional hina decorations passed down in the Chikugo region are displayed, allowing visitors to appreciate hina dolls while feeling the area's history and culture. Ogori is located in the Chikugo Plain of southern Fukuoka and retains historic streetscapes sometimes called the 'Little Kyoto of Kyushu.' Within a building that preserves the character of the post town, visitors can enjoy the rustic warmth of Chikugo-style hina decorations.
