Samegai Trout Farm Tanabata Festival

Samegai Trout Farm spreads along the clear Jizo River, regarded as one of the sources of the 'Amanogawa (Milky Way),' and is one of Japan's most historic trout farms. At the July Tanabata festival, large bamboo decorations are raised and visitors hang wishes on strips. The day features the 'Wakuwaku Kids' 7 Experiences'—catching and charcoal-grilling fish, feeding fish, a Tanabata quiz, fish-touching, a hunt for cobalt biwa-trout, and a stamp rally. Local trout and salmon dishes and food trucks line up, drawing families seeking summer cool. Held in light rain, it offers a Tanabata day spent beside a pristine stream.
