Wish cards on large bamboo along the shopping street
The Konan Nigiwai Tanabata Festa, held on the Konan-Hondori shopping street in Kobe's Higashinada Ward, fills the street with Tanabata color for about two weeks. Large bamboo poles are set along the arcade and street, where shoppers and neighborhood children tie colorful wish cards. During the period, individual shops add decorations and sales, and small festival-style events create a warm atmosphere as the community welcomes summer. Rooted in the residential Hanshin area, it is a homey, locally beloved Tanabata enjoyed across generations.
