800 carp streamers stretching across the Katsuura River
Held every Golden Week in Kamikatsu Town, Tokushima — a town famous for its leaf business and Zero Waste lifestyle — 'Sairen Koi-Koi Festival' strings around 800 carp streamers on ropes above the Katsuura River, spanning from Tsukigatani Onsen to the campground, where they glide gracefully through the mountain valley sky. On Children's Day (May 5) the festival offers a marketplace with food trucks, activity zones featuring bubble play, an iris medicinal bath at Tsukigatani Onsen (paid), and trout catching at the campground (paid). With a clear mountain stream beneath and 800 koinobori overhead, it is one of Shikoku's largest koinobori gatherings.
