Nagame Park
Midori, GunmaKanto
Around 1,000 chrysanthemums and a pagoda of flowers above the autumn colours of Takatsudo Gorge
The Kanto Chrysanthemum Show has been held since the late 1950s in Nagame Park, on the banks of the Takatsudo Gorge carved by the Watarase River, and reaches its 69th edition in 2026. Around 1,000 plants fill the park: large-flowered specimens trained to three stems, bonsai forms with sculpted trunks, cascades that tumble like cliffs, and multi-bloom giants that bear dozens of flowers on a single root. They surround the show's emblem, a five-storey pagoda built from chrysanthemums, and a flower portrait of Midomosu, the city mascot. Below the park, the Takatsudo Gorge reaches its peak autumn colour in November, so the show pairs the flowers with the scenery of the valley. The 2026 show runs from 1 to 30 November, open 9:00 to 16:00 with last entry at 15:30. Admission from 1 to 23 November is ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for elementary and junior high students; from 24 to 30 November entry is free. A rakugo storytelling event, the Midori tourism and produce fair and events marking the city's 20th anniversary are planned during the run. The show is organised by the Kanto Chrysanthemum Show Executive Committee. Pets are not allowed in the park, and the north, west and Hanetaki Plaza car parks are all free.
