Magnificent Nabeshima clan hina dolls on display
The Nabeshima Clan Hinamatsuri is a special exhibition held annually at Chokokan Museum in Saga City. It showcases magnificent hina dolls and furnishings handed down through the Nabeshima family, former feudal lords of the Saga domain. The collection centers on pieces owned by the wives of the 11th, 12th, and 13th generation lords, including items acquired for first celebrations, newly commissioned pieces after marriage, and gifts from the Imperial Court. These treasures combine the splendor and refinement befitting a daimyo and later peerage family. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to trace the evolution of hina culture from the late Edo period through the early Showa era.
