Kaseda Yumepika Honmachi Tanabata Festival

A local summer festival held in the Honmachi-dori shopping street of Kaseda in Minamisatsuma, Kagoshima, timed to the month-delayed Tanabata. The arcade, nicknamed 'Yumepika,' is hung with colorful Tanabata decorations and streamers that take on a magical glow under the lights at dusk. From early evening, stage events featuring local children's performances, music, and dance liven things up, while food stalls and kitchen cars draw families in yukata and young people alike. It is the busiest time of year for the shopping street of Kaseda, the hub of the southern Satsuma Peninsula—a beloved, homespun Tanabata festival.
