Gosen Hachimangu Shrine
Gosen, NiigataChubu
About 5,000 wind chimes, an umbrella sky, and night illumination
Held at Gosen Hachimangu in Miyamachi, Gosen City, Niigata, this is regarded as one of Niigata's largest Tanabata wind chime festivals. The 2026 edition runs for an extended period from July 1 to August 9, with free admission. About 5,000 colorful chimes, including the crystal-glass Gosen Hachiman chime as well as chimes dedicated from all 47 prefectures and around the world, hang throughout the grounds, ringing with a cool sound whenever the wind blows. The chimes are illuminated daily from 19:00 to 21:00, creating a magical night scene. A colorful umbrella sky, limited Tanabata goshuin seals, and summer-visit amulets also feature, making it a popular summer event and photo spot.
