Tokushima Zoo Tanabata Festival

Tokushima City, Tokushima

Venue: Tokushima Zoo (Stella Preschool Animal Kingdom)

Jul 4, 2026

An event held each Tanabata season at Tokushima Zoo in Tokushima City. Known as the 'Make a Wish with Pororo Tanabata Festival,' it is themed around Pororo, the zoo's polar bear who serves as Tokushima City's global-warming-prevention ambassador, and visitors can tie tanzaku wish strips onto bamboo. The event also incorporates environmental-awareness messages about preventing global warming, so children can learn about the environment and animals while having fun. Families can experience the Japanese seasonal tradition of Tanabata while observing the summer animals, and the expansive grounds also include a botanical garden and amusement park for a full day out. *Dates are based on the previous year.
