Shiroyama Park (Tateyama Castle)
Tateyama, ChibaKanto
120 koinobori with the Tateyama Castle keep as a backdrop
A springtime koinobori event held every year at Shiroyama Park (Tateyama Castle) in Tateyama City, Chiba. About 120 koinobori decorate the mountaintop plaza, monument plaza and other areas around Tateyama Castle — once home to the Satomi clan — fluttering vigorously beneath blue skies. The combination of the castle keep, colorful streamers and Tateyama Bay makes this one of Minami-Boso's most scenic spots, drawing families and photographers during Golden Week. Visitors can also enjoy the Hakkenden Museum and spring cherry blossoms and azaleas within the park. Contact: Shiroyama Park Management Office (0470-22-8854).
