Yokosuka Shobuen Iris Festival

Yokosuka, Kanagawa

Venue: Yokosuka Shobuen

Late May – Mid-Jun, 2026 (est.)

Yokosuka Shobuen in Kanagawa features 412 varieties and approximately 140,000 Japanese iris plants across a 7,000-square-meter garden, making it one of the largest iris gardens in the Kanto region. Irises are closely tied to Tango no Sekku, believed to ward off evil. During the festival from late May to mid-June, the entire garden fills with purple, white, blue, and pink blooms, creating a dreamlike landscape. Events during the festival include taiko drum performances, tea ceremonies, and harp concerts, drawing families, couples, and photographers. Located in the green hills of Yokosuka, the park also offers wisteria and hydrangeas. Dates are based on last year's schedule.
