Since 1989, about 500 koinobori have been displayed above the Kamogawa River in central Kamo City, Niigata each spring. Colorful koinobori line a 150m stretch from Aoi Bridge to Nishinomiya Bridge. Nearby Kamoyama Park features 50,000 snow camellias in bloom, and Kamo City is known as the 'Little Kyoto of Hokuetsu.'
