Koinobori with the historic Seiun Bridge (once Japan's tallest) as backdrop
In the Hinokage River gorge in Miyazaki Prefecture, about 200 koinobori have been displayed each spring for approximately 40 years by local youth. The Seiun Bridge, once Japan's tallest arch bridge, provides a dramatic backdrop. Located near Takachiho Gorge in the mythical land of Miyazaki, the contrast of fresh green gorge scenery and colorful koinobori is a hidden gem for photographers.
