50m giant koinobori with bazaar and marathon
The Takitoki River Koinobori Festival in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture features about 250 koinobori displayed along a 500-meter stretch of the river embankment using approximately 40 green bamboo poles. The main festival highlights include a spectacular 50-meter giant koinobori, about 30 market stalls, 5 food trucks, and a free market. The following day features the Amenomori Koinobori Marathon along the embankment. This tradition began in the late Showa era, inspired by Kochi's Shimanto River koinobori display.
