Saijo Inari (Myokyoji Temple)
Kita Ward, OkayamaChugoku
Special prayers for good relationships, with wish strips and amulets.
Saijo Inari (Myokyoji Temple) is counted among Japan's three great Inari shrines, alongside Fushimi and Toyokawa. Every July 7, special prayers for good relationships are offered, and worshippers receive wooden tablets, love amulets and tanzaku strips. Writing a wish and tying it to bamboo is a cherished custom, drawing many who seek good matches. A giant 27.5-meter torii gate towers over the grounds, and the approach is lined with shops and eateries.
