Hayashida Former Miki Residence
Hayashida-cho, Himeji, HyogoKansai
Bamboo decorations within the historic Miki Residence
Held at the Hayashida Former Miki Residence in Hayashida-cho, Himeji, this Tanabata festival makes use of a dignified former estate whose owners served as great village headmen of the Hayashida domain in the Edo period. A prefecturally designated cultural property, it retains historic structures such as a nagaya gate and main house. During the event, the estate and garden are filled with Tanabata bamboo decorated freely by locals and visitors, who can tie wish cards. Surrounded by old streets and countryside, it offers a relaxed, old-fashioned Tanabata atmosphere, sometimes alongside ceramics exhibitions and seasonal events.
