Uchimachi Tanabata-san

Yonago City, Tottori

Venue: Uchimachi and Torimachi area, Yonago

Aug 7, 2026

Uchimachi Tanabata-san is a traditional observance carried on for about 230 years since the Edo period in the Uchimachi and Torimachi areas, once the castle town of Yonago Castle. On the month-delayed date of August 7, bamboo decorations, tanzaku and colorful ornaments are raised, and people stroll by in the cool of the evening. Lovingly preserved by locals, it is a simple, warm summer tradition amid the old townscape near the Kamo River. *Dates are based on the previous year.
