The Zama Giant Kite Festival, held May 4-5 annually, is a traditional Children's Day celebration with over 200 years of history dating back to the Bunka-Bunsei era (1804-1830). The main event features a massive kite measuring about 13m square, pulled into the sky by 100 people. Other activities include children's sumo, flea markets, and mascot photo ops.
