An annual koinobori event since 1997 along the Aburayama River in Fukuoka's Sawara Ward. Organized by the Iibaru School District Community Association, about 155 koinobori swim above the river. Known for the beautiful combination with cherry blossom-lined banks, a free koinobori sketching event is held in late April for elementary school students with commemorative gifts.
