Miyajidake Shrine Iris Festival

Guji-Motomachi, Fukutsu, Fukuoka

Venue: Miyajidake Shrine

Mid-May – Early Jun, 2026 (est.)

An annual iris festival at Miyajidake Shrine in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka. About 100 varieties and 100,000 Edo irises bloom across the shrine grounds, the largest display in Kyushu. Irises are deeply connected to Tango no Sekku, believed to ward off evil spirits, and are closely related to the shobu-yu (iris bath) tradition. The shrine, nationally famous for its "Path of Light" sunset phenomenon, offers a wonderful combination of flowers and history.
