About This Event

Held annually in Matsushiro, the castle town of the Sanada clan (worth 100,000 koku of rice), this month-long festival displays hina dolls from various eras at approximately 75 locations throughout town. Cultural heritage sites connected to the Sanada family, local shops, and public facilities serve as venues, showcasing diverse hina decorations spanning from the Edo period to the present day. On March 3, a nagashi-bina (floating doll) ceremony takes place at Shozan Shrine. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the atmospheric castle town streets while discovering different displays, along with stamp rallies and various events throughout the festival period.
