Tanabata Festival at the Ando Residence

Minami-Alps, Yamanashi

Venue: Ando Residence (Important Cultural Property)

Jun 24 – Jul 6, 2026

A Tanabata festival held annually at the Ando Residence (former village headman's house), a nationally designated important cultural property built in 1708. Against the backdrop of a residence retaining the look of the Edo period some 300 years ago and a lush garden, bamboo decorations and wish strips are arranged, and the region's traditional long-sleeved Tanabata dolls are displayed. A formal Tanabata display based on the Ogasawara school of etiquette lets visitors experience local heritage. Guests can write and hang their own wishes, savoring the festival in a historic setting. Free parking, including for large buses, is available.
