Uenohara shopping streets (four venues)
Uenohara, YamanashiChubu
Night stalls across four shopping-street venues on a summer evening
A Tanabata-themed summer evening festival held each July by the Uenohara shopping district, now in its 26th edition. Stalls line four areas of the city offering fried chicken, yakisoba, grilled squid, shaved ice, yakitori, butter potatoes, cotton candy and more. Game corners are set up at each venue, making it a community festival enjoyed by all ages. Visitors who come in yukata get a commemorative photo perk on the special stage. Held rain or shine (subject to cancellation under weather warnings), it is just a few minutes' walk from JR Uenohara Station and lights up the summer night across the whole town.
