Kanazawa Station Motenashi Dome (Tsuzumi Gate & underground plaza)
Kanazawa, IshikawaChubu
Bamboo from Yuhidera decorated with wishes, displayed until the old-calendar Tanabata
A regular Tanabata event organized by the Kanazawa Motenashitai (hospitality corps), in its 19th year in 2025. It is held on an early-July Saturday at the Tsuzumi Gate and underground plaza of the Motenashi Dome on the Kenrokuen side of Kanazawa Station. Visitors write wishes on strips and decorate bamboo cut from Yuhidera, and the day features live music and servings of gold-leaf Kaga hojicha tea. The decorated strips remain on display in the station's underground plaza until the old-calendar Tanabata in late August, delighting tourists too. With the handmade warmth of citizen volunteers, it brings a summer touch to the gateway of Kanazawa.
